Rules and Etiquette
- Dancers will respect the faculty of Fouetté Academy of Dance, fellow students, and most importantly yourself.
- We pride ourselves in always being supportive and encouraging to other dancers.
- Bullying will not be tolerated under any/all circumstances! FAD is an inclusive environment, kindness only.
- Students will not make unkind remarks about/or to anyone and will respect all dancers in all companies because FAD is a team!
- If a dancer is being disruptive, they will be asked to sit out until ready to rejoin the class.
- It is important to note that the director determines class placement & assessment of all choreography, families should support their decisions.
- Studio directors have the right to cancel or combine classes due to inclement weather and/or reduced class size.
- Please do not bring valuables to the studio. FAD is not responsible for any lost or stolen items.
- Unless there is permission from parents/guardians to leave the premises, students are expected to always stay inside the studio.
- It is the responsibility of each parent/guardian to ensure they are receiving all communications, and to stay informed on important dates and expectations.
- All company dancers are required to purchase appropriate dance attire following the dress code.
- Students must be on time for class. Arriving 10 minutes prior to get situated and warmed up.
- Parents/guardians are NOT allowed in the dance studios while classes are taking place. Please do not open the doors to the classroom! The front office will be happy to assist you, should you have any questions or concerns.
Dance Dress Code
We have a dress code policy in place to help students gain a positive body image. It will also give the teacher the ability to see the dancer’s body outline to make proper corrections on posture and alignment. At the same time, it will create an atmosphere of attentiveness and respect between the student and teacher, so we ask students to abide by the following rules:
-
Hair must be properly secured and tied up off the face and neck for all styles of dance.
-
For safety reasons, absolutely no jeweler is allowed in class other than small earrings.
-
Gum chewing is not allowed due to the danger of choking and appearance.
-
No loose-fitting pants, blue jeans, t-shirts, or other unprofessional clothes.
-
Students taking several classes in a row are permitted to keep the same tights/attire and only change shoes between classes.
-
Shoes and tights requirements will stay the same for the recital and MUST be followed. Only mentioned attire will be permitted in the class.
-
Absolutely no other outfits dresses/tutus/crowns/elaborate hair accessories/outdoor shoes etc. We find it distracting to the kids and the class progresses.
-
Water bottles must be presented at each class.
