recreational program

The goal of the recreational program is to provide dance lessons for students of all levels of ability and age.

The recreational program not only teaches basic dance principles and terminology, but it also helps develop a healthy body and positive attitude. We provide dancers with an enticing fun atmosphere while enhancing their skill levels. We pride ourselves on giving our recreational dancers the tools and ability to train at a prestigious level to eventually qualify for our pre-competitive and competitive programs. We see the potential in all dancers!

Ballet

Ballet is the foundation of dance technique and is carried over to most other dance styles. At Fouetté Academy we hold the highest regard for the training ballet for our students. Ballet improves strength, flexibility, and balance while increasing the student’s focus and gracefully presenting themselves. Classes include traditional barre and center work, designed to teach posture, poise, grace, and ultimately strong ballet technique. The benefits of learning ballet include the development of good posture, and self-discipline while learning technique and musicality.

Jazz Dance

Dancers are introduced to the fundamentals of technique and vocabulary in jazz foundation, with a focus on flexibility, rhythm, strength, extension, balance, and speed. The class includes elements of street jazz, Broadway, and jazz-funk movements. Classes include full-body conditioning, progressions, center work, style, and choreography specific to each age division. It’s a great way to help your child coordinate and build their cardiovascular levels in an energetic and performance-filled setting.

Acro

Age 4.5 & up

Acro is a combination of gymnastics and dance. It focuses on concentration, balance flexibility, and control. Children in this program will develop strength and flexibility and learn basic acrobatic skills using the proper and safe techniques. Acro often includes working with a partner using their balance and agility learning to work with others and achieving a common goal. Students will learn skills such as rolls, cartwheels, handstands, and walkovers and will progress to more advanced skills such as round-offs, front and back handsprings, and aerials. We work on how to combine acro moves with different dance styles, in a supportive and safe environment. Classes are hands-on, and students are spotted by trained instructors, so they can safely develop their skills
